I was slowly gaining confidence with the Dual Defender list courtesy of Biophysical from the FFG forums and have always enjoyed flying ships that are uncommon and you hardly see TIE Defenders around so I thought this week I'd represent them.
I wanted a re-match with Todd and I wasn't able to do much to him at all however I did take out Whisper with some luck but I just couldn't get the shots needed onto the Decimator which was a pity but a better result against the same list a fortnight ago.
My second match however was against Simon who was running a mini Tie swarm with Howlrunner backed up with Krassis in a Firespray with a few tricks.
The TIE Swarm focused fire onto the TIE Defenders however their fire power simply wasn't enough to cut through their defences and over the course of a few turns they were eliminated. It seemed everything went to plan with this game and I got the 100 points for the week which is ultimately the aim.
My final game was against Sean who was running Redline with some trimmings, Echo, and Vader and I grossly underestimated this list and/or made a stupid move. Basically I'd stripped Redline off his shields in order to remove the ordnance from his list however Rexler ended up in range 1 of Redline and Vader which meant cluster missiles galore and basically I'd given away half of my list.
The next 45+ minutes was spent with me zooming with Vessery about trying to get a good shot but it was simply going to come down to me trying to shoot whilst being shot at. In the end I managed to take out Redline and get Echo down to a single hit point before Vessery succumbed to fire. Not the way to end the evening but regardless it was good flying the dual Defenders again.
Wifey had a great showing this time as well running Chewbacca and 2 x B-wings with heavy laser cannons having a close game against a Fat Dash list with the game coming down to a single dice roll which unfortunately didn't end in her favour. Her second game however was against the dreaded Brobots at least one of the many variants around these days and her opponent had allegedly had a 100% success rate with his list.
I'd only managed to watch the tail end of the game but it looked like a hard fought game and my better half managed to stay in control and eventually overthrow the Aggressor's getting her a win for the evening and also handing her opponent his first loss with the list.
Another great evening of X-wing at Collective Gaming and I'm looking forward to next week.
