For starters is a 0 point modification and for me this increases the efficiency of all the lists I've ever come up with in the past that use any type of ordnance and has got me a little excited. Just yesterday I was using the 5 x A-wing list and all of a sudden this card can help increase the damage output of not only their Proton Rockets but naturally anything else it gets attached to.
I see this card being very effective when combined with Concussion missiles that already change a blank result to a damage result. Backed up with Guidance Chips now and TIE Bombers launching off payloads of these start to look really effective.
Once aspect of this card I'm overlooking currently is in regards to the primary weapon value being 3 or greater and the damage result goes to a critical result instead. Being primarily an Imperial player the only ships that fit into this category are TIE Defenders which I wouldn't have the points for the rockets and a Decimator which once again I have better things to spend points on. It's perhaps a great little addition to the card but I think it will really shine on other pilots.
Ordnance has always been an over costed and under used part of the game and whilst this card will go a long way towards solving that problem and bringing it back into balance it's good to see once again that FFG is correcting their ways through cards such as these. Just bring in some T-65 titles now please.....
It's also worth considering how Guidance Chips will be used against your lists. Making ordnance more effective has advantages for both you and your opponents unfortunately and all of a sudden any list sporting torpedoes or rockets can become that little bit more effective regardless of who is throwing the dice. For me I need to pay more attention to the range values of the cards being used against me to ensure I'm setting myself up for the least amount of damage each turn whilst maximising my own. Easier said than done of course.
Guidance Chips for me opens new possibilities for some of my favourite builds including Redline, the Shuttle and Bomber builds and as mentioned above the 5 x A-wing list to name a few. Time to get revising lists I think!
How will Guidance Chips effect your current lists?
