This time around he kept Dengar and paired him up with Y-wings and Twin Laser Turrets. This could be a nightmare for my TIE Defenders and, had I been running the TIE/x7 title, I wouldn't be as concerned. I'd have to focus on the Y-wings right away in order to bring them down so I wouldn't be limping around with several ships in poor states of health.
As it turned out, all of the incoming fire was directed at Delta '2' sporting an Ion Cannon and I lost all of his shields. I return fire with the tractor beam targeting a Y-wing which misses; however my primary weapons fire chips off all of his shields. The wounded Defender then gets to work on the same target, slapping down an ion token (which in my mind would force Dengar to do something crazy unless he planned on bumping) doing a critical hit (console fire) and 2 further damage. I certainly could have redirected aim at the wounded Y-wing as per my usual modus operandi, but I break from the norm because I now have that element of “control.” What is better than dictating the movement of one enemy ship? Controlling two enemy ships, of course!
I target the other, landing an ion token, and the overall attack accounts for two shields. At least I got the ion token down which is the important fact as it gave me the option to K-turn behind it and finish it off the following turn.
Delta Squadron retaliates with the Tractor beam hitting square on target and dropping the agility of the Y-wing. With no advantage to move the target, I unload into it with the primary weapon and then with the wingman on standby, obliterating it.
Delta '3' at range 1 of the remaining Y-wing does a single hit with the Ion Cannon right before the primary weapon turns it into space dust.
This is the first game where I haven't lost a single squad member of Delta Squadron. I'm sure the Empire must be happy with me now. Interestingly enough, I haven't used a single target lock action since using the squad, either opting for a focus or a barrel roll action.
Thank you for reading and I look forward to posting part 4 in the not-so-distant future.
