I was facing a list that has been popular on the internet for awhile now with a spin dropping Vader for Juno Eclipse instead.
Juno Eclipse - Veteran Instincts, Title, Advanced Targeting Computer
Lt Colzet - Title, Advanced Targeting Computer
Captain Yorr - Emperor Palpatine
I ran the following list dropping the Conner Net for more proximity mines.
Redline - Extra Munitions, Fire Control System, Plasma Torpedoes, Cluster Missiles, TIE MKII Engine
Deathrain - Extra Munitions, Enhanced Scope, Proximity Mines x 2, TIE MKII Engine
Omicron Group Pilot - Darth Vader
Deployment - My shuttle went into the bottom right whilst Colzet, Yorr and Wampa went into the opposite corner. I was keen to face Deathrain and Redline onto these in order to rid myself of Wampa initially. Juno stuck to centre for the time being.
Juno opens fire onto Deathrain getting a single hit but displaying the agility of a mountain lion I evade it which would become an insult over the course of the game. Redline launches a payload of cluster missiles at Wampa who takes two damage from the initial volley and the second one detonates the TIE fighter. Deathrain scores another shield from Lt Colzet.
I can't re-collect what happened in combat for Juno however I don't believe I took any damage with a single evade dice being rolled for Redline. In reply I use my last cluster missile payload and through Palpatine's influence I only manage to eat Juno's shields.
Redline launches his torpedoes and 3 shields vanish from the shuttle. Yorr returns fire onto Deathrain removing his shields for good and in reply I chip another shield off.
Between Juno and Yorr Deathrain limps away with a damage and 2 critical hits (Blinded Pilot and Damaged Cockpit) but I'm sure I probably rolled an evade for each defence much to my opponents disgust. Redline opens up with my final torpedo netting 1 shield, 2 damage and a single critical (Console Fire).
And just like that folks when I thought I was well and truly in the game, I went and handed it away.
Well the intent was their to turn this list into a masterpiece but if I had to replay this game again I'm sure it would turn out to be worse than the original. We both agreed that in a reply that my opponents shuttle would have backed the TIE's up from the first turn or even gone in front of them shielding them for a little and the opening joust I fear would have flipped to the other side of the coin.
It seems the moment I spend all of my ordnance the TIE Punishers simply don't have answers for anything and as much as I'm a die-hard fan of them there isn't a great deal of situations outside of the opening joust where they shine.
Thanks for reading!
