Imperial II-Class Star Destroyer - Admiral Konstantine, Veteran Gunners, Quad Battery Turrets
2 x Victory II-Class Star Destroyer - Veteran Gunners, Quad Battery Turrets, Disposable Capacitors
Raider I-Class - External Racks, Ordnance Experts
I can't remember the objectives Todd had, however I ended up choosing Advanced Gunnery. Please forgive any errors as this game is now well and truly a few days old!
The squadrons move in a gaggle towards the area of anticipated action. At this stage I was thinking I'd be lucky to scratch a single ship, and the only one I'd have a shot at destroying was the nearest VSD.
My next ISD activates, revealing a squadron command which I bank to a token as I'm way out of range to use the command. Another learning opportunity. Todd's ISD activates revealing a navigate command reducing its speed to 2. The final VSD activates on the far flank using a navigate command to increase its yaw and turn into the action. Finally the Raider takes a focus fire token before the remaining squadrons sink in.
Morna Kee and Mauler Mithel close out the attack on the damaged VSD-II doing another shield damage and getting a face down damage card through.
The final VSD activates on the far flank with a repair token. In the squadron phase, Morna Kee removes a single shield from the VSD-II.
Todd had performed some amazing flying this turn. Despite what the pictures say, he didn't even crash this turn even though his ISD is sandwiched in between his pair of VSD's.
The VSD-II activates and limps away with a repair command gaining another 2 shields but unfortunately for Todd it was a millimetre from the table edge, and there was no way he could salvage it from flying off the table. It spat out some flak damage onto Morna Kee and Zertik Strom as it wandered off leaving my second ISD to activate. I reveal another squadron command but figuring that the wounded VSD-II is dead anyway, and I certainly wasn't going to get points for any other ship I pulled my squadrons back into a more central position out of range.
Todd's ISD activates taking a repair token as does the remaining VSD-II, using its disposable capacitors to get through some damage onto Mauler Mithel and Major Rhymer. It crashes into the back of the ISD putting down a face down damage card on each.
With me destroying a single Raider and then Todd being so kind to gift me with the points from a VSD-II, I was up on points. I did apologise to him for such a boring game and I was keen to ensure that the next one would have a lot more dice rolls into it.
Basic things I have to keep in mind when using squadrons is trying not to clump them all in a single hull zone of the enemy ship, ensuring I'm making flak attacks as difficult as possible. The Grand Inquisitor didn't really account for much but that's not to say its a useless card.
Being a quick game, meant we could immediately have lunch, and then set up for another!
