The focus has been on the new TIE/x7 title and combining it with a variety of lists in all shapes and sizes to see how the new title matches up in X-wing. Needless to say the title makes the TIE Defender a much more 'tankier' ship which is what every Imperial player ever wanted.
For me the lowly Delta Squadron Pilot has been a staple in many lists running the title and then it's a case of working out what to run with the pair. I normally end up running something on the larger side but recently I had a very good game running Whisper with Agent Kallus on board against a 3-Ace Rebel list.
Whilst Whisper would perform the normal sneaky tricks from the flanks the TIE Defenders opened up with a 4K turn to pretty much delay their fire fight allowing Whisper more time to get into a perfect position to set up a flawless attack run. 6 months ago the TIE Defenders would have simply crumpled in this role (and without the minus 2 squad points each it simply wouldn't have happened). Also it's worth noting that an opponent will normally anticipate a 3, 4 or 5 manoeuvre so when you reveal a 1 or 2 it's not only refreshing but often will catch them out.
Another squad that I wish to play is simply swapping out Whisper for a Patrol Leader Decimator with perhaps crew ranging from Darth Vader, Isaard, Systems Officer to name a few ideas.
How's the TIE/x7 title working for you so far? Have you struck any gold mines in terms of squadron building?
