Proton Rockets are only worth while equipping to a ship with 3-agility. This way you can guarantee a 5-dice attack. If you can gain a target lock you can ensure you'll have full dice modification allowing the ships from an A-Wing through to a TIE Advanced, to punch well about their weight for a round.
